August 8, 2014- I’m back in England working on my dance project in Margate, but today I had the day off so I ventured to Canterbury. It was a quick train ride from Margate, I had been here in 2004 with my Cornell trip, but it is definitely different as an independent traveler. The cathedral is a real gem and I had lunch at a cute place called Mrs. Jones’ Kitchen. I followed lunch with a “Cremosito” from the Chocolate Cafe- a cross between gelato and soft-serve, very luxurious!
Glasgow has great coffee! We’ve had excellent filter coffee at Artisan Roast and Papercup.
Friday July 4/Saturday July 5- we took a train to Edinburgh yesterday from York and have found all of our favorite things: whisky, seafood, coffee and a breakfast of Scottish oats today! We love this place! We are traveling with our favorite travel companion, Holly Davis! More from Glasgow tomorrow!
Tuesday 7/1- our outing for the day was to Greenwich. We visited the Cutty Sark, which is dry docked and has been made into an awesomely designed museum- well worth it, really lovely! We had a crazy “ramen burger” before we toured the ship at the Greenwich Market.
Oyster day in Whitstable! Friday 6/27!
Wednesday and Thursday in Dover and Margate! Mark is here finally! Fish and chips by the sea, white cliffs of Dover and a great visit to the Turner Contemporary!
Sunday 6/22- Flat white and BBQ?? At Railroad in Hackney after a lovely yoga Sunday! Made better by their hand thrown cups and sauces.
6/21- Saturday mid-morning at Broadway Market. A short walk from Holly’s flat and so many delicious and beautiful things to see. We got our flat whites from a vendor and many other goodies!
6/20/14- I’m back in London this week (waiting for Mark to arrive) staying with Holly in a lovely flat in Dalston/Hackney area. Today I’m adventuring on my own while Holly is at work. My first stop, E5 Bakeshop just on the other side of London Fields. The smells coming out of this place are pretty glorious!
